Who does it? Why?
Anyone can join le mode de vie, but most commonly it is couples or singles aged 20-60. Most swinger couples are in committed relationships, and some have 'play partners' who they are not in a romantic relationship with but they play together as a couple.
Single women and couples join the lifestyle for a wide variety of reasons, including adding some spice into their sex life, trying something new, fulfilling a fantasy, or experiencing bisexual activities in their heterosexual relationship.
Swinging is a sexually liberating environment, giving people confidence to try new things in a safe space with other open-minded adults.
What to expect at the venue
Much of the venue at Between Friends looks like any other wine bar. You can sit at a table, stand at the bar or wander around, you can drink wine, beer and soft drink, you can share some food with your partner and with others. You can organise to meet people here after chatting with them online. You can get chatting with people you’ve met here. You can organise to meet up with old friends here.
If you meet someone you’d like to play with, you can enjoy some wine together before heading upstairs to play in our designated play areas. You may decide just to watch what is going on, you may decide just to play with your partner, you may play with one other couple, or you may play with many different people over the night. It’s entirely up to you! We will supply you with condoms and lube for fun times, and fresh towels for afterwards. We also provide you with a locker to store your belongings. What is 'the lifestyle'?
The term the lifestyle, or le mode de vie, refers to swinging, where adults engage in consensual sexual activities with other singles or couples. It comes in many forms, including two couples swapping partners, a third person joining a couple, four or more people playing together, and many other combinations.
Couples pre-determine their boundaries, including whether they prefer soft swap where they will kiss other people or engage in foreplay, or if they are happy for a full swap whereby they will have sex with someone other than their partner.
Other boundaries may include that you all remain in the same room or that you can break away into pairs, agreements regarding activities which are off-limits to anyone who isn't your partner, and the way you make decisions as a couple about who you would like to talk to.
What should I wear?

Dress to impress! When you join us at Between Friends Wine Bar, wear whatever you would normally wear when you dress up for a night out. Underneath that you can wear some lingerie or nice underwear, or nothing at all if that helps you feel sexy!
Personal hygiene is very important, so make sure you are freshly showered, and pay extra attention to cleanliness and odour. You may like to bring deodorant and hair ties with you, as well as breath mints.
When you are ready to dress down, you can make use of a secure locker to store your clothing and belongings, and then you can wander around with a towel around you, in your underwear, or totally naked. It's up to you, and whatever you feel comfortable with. Towels will be provided.
To ‘dress down’ means to take off the outer layers of your clothes. At some venues you can dress down at any time and in any place within the venue.
Other places have some areas where you remain fully clothed and other areas for dressing down. Sometimes there is a set time in the evening when everyone is required to dress down, and sometimes it’s up to when or if you dress down.
Some venues require nudity and at others you may choose whether to leave lingerie or underwear on or not.
At Between Friends Wine Bar, most people will be clothed in the wine bar area early in the night, and you can get changed in the dressing room at any time and wear whatever you are comfortable with downstairs in the wine bar area - clothing, lingerie, or nothing at all! - and you must be dressed down if you head upstairs to the play areas.
